We are raising funds to rebuild the Brown log cabin, which was built in 1834 in Wilton Center, near what became the Joliet Arsenal. It was moved to Lockport in 1972 after spending approximately 30 years at the Grundy County fairgrounds, and became part of the Pioneer Village for another three decades.
But eventually the cabin and other settlement buildings were placed in storage, and it was taken apart log by log. However, due to the environmental conditions, we have lost approximately 30% of the logs to rot. We will need to pay not only to replace the logs, but to pour a foundation, and re-erect the cabin.
Our financial goal is $100,000.
Ozinga - $1000
Donnelly Foundation - $500
Eileen Andrew Foundation - $5000
Attorney Mike Hanson - $250
In addition to seeking large scale donors, we would like to invite you, the community, to help in making this project a reality so we may tell the story of the early settlers of Will County.
You can now contribute to our Capital Campaign through our GoFundMe campaign. https://www.gofundme.com/restoration-of-the-brown-log-cabin
